headshot2Monique has over 30 years of experience in media, management and communications.  She is now Chief Executive Officer of BlueGaulin Media Strategies, LLC, which is a newly formed public relations, social media and media training firm.

Monique worked for 18 years as Chief of Staff and Communications Director for the retired Virgin Islands Delegate to Congress. Prior to that, she worked as a reporter/editor for the St. Croix Avis, a Virgin Islands newspaper, a public relations specialist for the U.S. Virgin Islands Legislature, and as an interpersonal communications/speech instructor at the University of the Virgin Islands.

As the principal of Clendinen Communications Group in the 1990s, she conducted public policy outreach campaigns for the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources Proposed Land and Water Use Plan; the St. Croix Anti-Litter and Beautification campaign, and public relations and advertising campaigns for the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism’s Folklife Festival and St. Croix Jazz and Caribbean Music Festival. She also worked as the St. Croix on-island public relations counsel for the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism.

As Chief of Staff for the Office of the Delegate to Congress for the 18 years, Monique managed the office and supervised the 16-member staff in Washington, DC and the U.S. Virgin Islands. She planned and executed public policy initiatives in economic development, small business development, housing, energy and agriculture. As Communications Director she developed and executed public relations and communications strategy to include media relations, and content creation for traditional and social media. She supervised the office’s online presence and organized public relations events. She led the political campaign’s communications initiatives and executed strategy.

Monique recently formed BlueGaulin Media Strategies, LLC, to serve small businesses, non-profits and government agencies in the Washington DC metro area and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

She has a Master of Arts in Humanities and a Community College Teaching Certificate from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Detroit-Mercy and a Social Media for Business Certificate from the University of Georgia.

Monique lives in Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC with her family.
